DECADANCE RADIO GOES LIVE ACROSS BRIGHTON & HOVE

Local radio is having a major resurgence with new stations popping up on local D.A.B multiplexes flexing their music and showing off what they have to offer. For some they are an opportunity to try their hand in radio with differing levels of success. For others who have worked in the industry for a number of years, it’s an opportunity to go it alone and continue to support the industry they know and love whilst also giving the local listener a great quality product.

Decadance has been a music marketing brand for the past 13-years and has taken on what is possible the final piece of the jigaw with a brand-new radio station for Brighton & Hove and the wider south coast. The club events, the record label, the DJ agency, artist development and festival involvement will all now feed into the new station giving a host of people an opportunity to get more from the city as a result of the plans ahead.

Local artists will have another platform to grow their music, listeners will have a solid sounding station to listen to with great relevant content, sponsors will have another way of reaching their chosen target demographic and venues will have a chance to grow with innovative new ideas alongside the radio team.

There will be a wide range of shows including the morning breakfast and brunch shows, mix shows from local DJ’s keeping the energy going through the day and evening. There will be some key-content shows including ‘Brighton Sound Social’ live taking the local music conversation on-air to discuss important topics for the city. ‘The Soundcheck’ will be the main route into searching for fresh new talent who are undiscovered and unsigned and the Sunday night ‘Switch Shows’ will bring a different dynamic to a dance station with a spotlight on the best quality of other genres from across Brighton & Hove.

Ex Kiss FM and Juice FM presenter, Anthony Nichols explained why Decadance will be worth listening to in the coming months of the launch of live shows. “For a lot of people, the loss of Juice was a big deal as Capital centralises all the programming to Southampton and London and the presenters (who aren’t local either) ditch any local content they did before. Decadance aims to provide a solid music base of predominantly dance music with a peppering of other genres and different programming formats to give the station a much more 3D varied listen. It will excite artists to have a platform run by professionals with over 40-years joint experience. It will bring comfort to the local business industry that they can still include radio in their marketing mix at an affordable rate and actually meet their account manager from Decadance in person regularly for updates to ensure we are working hard to deliver. It will also be great for local venues who want to think outside the box when it comes to what events they are hosting. JOB OVERVIEW

Decadance is a fresh new station for Brighton & Hove. We’re appealing because we don’t play ad’s; we focus on offering a different package to our future business partners. So, we’re looking for someone who has more to them just selling. You’ll need to be a driven individual with a previous track record in sales and a desire to get stuck in with our new radio station.

You will be helping us grow the station and everything we have to offer by selling our S&P packages. The role will involve sourcing, connecting and following up leads from the local business community and engaging with them on a level where you can offer them our on-air S&P packages, coupled with our online and digital platform opportunities.

You’ll be working within a small team who make up the S&P team and giving the others members any support or advice where needed. This role is a commission only flexi position to begin with and will grow into a full-time paid position for the right candidate. The role is flexible in that it can work around other commitments the candidate may have. There will be a full review at the 3-month and 6-month periods to look at how the role will further develop according to the needs of the station.

 

PRIMARY ROLE & CORE SKILLS

To own and take responsibility of the S&P side of the new radio side of the business which will include researching, sourcing, engaging and closing sponsorship deals across our on-air and online platforms. The successful candidate will also be there for support for an existing small support team of people who are also talking to the business community.

It’s vital the successful candidate understands the full product. By product we mean the radio station and everything which it consists of including shows and opportunities for potential sponsors. Understanding where you are able to up-sell and discount where applicable in order to help complete deals.

It’s important the S&P Manager is able to source and engage with suitable companies within various sectors depending on the S&P package available. Creating great repour and relationships with the local business community through a range of tools and opportunities including business fayres, networking events and face to face meetings. Having regular meetings with the support team and company directors to ensure targets and being met. The S&P Manager must ensure they are able to close deals effectively and to train the members of the support team to close effectively too.

You must be driven to work alone but also be able to work closely with the rest of the team whilst having that hunger to grow and hit targets and deadlines which are set by you and the directors. Your communication skills must be strong, and it is important to be a brand ambassador for the company at all times. Past experience in sales is very important as you will be expected to manage your sales. You are also required to have a strong knowledge of using the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.

A keen interest in music is advantageous when you are out and about talking about the station.
