Decadance UK is a music marketing company with studios and offices in Brighton and Bristol. The company is split across events, festivals, radio, networking, music label, music education and music content which engages our sponsors.
JOB OVERVIEW
Decadance is looking for a vibrant and creative events management student to come an help within our events team, pushing forward new ideas for music events and driven to get the most out of events we do with our venue partners.
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY ROLE
The primary role will be to work with the Creative Director planning out music events for the year, coordinating all the elements for each event which will include everything from the venue relationship, coordinating the talent performing, marketing the event cross-platform which would include our radio station as well as digital channels and social media and reporting back after each event.
VENUE RELATIONSHIPS
We work with several different venues and have strong ties with the events team at the local council which means we can put on some strong events in the best locations. It’s important that we maintain these relationships and build new ones for the variety of events we put on to stand out and be different.
MUSIC EVENT IDEAS
With an ethos which includes never putting on the same event twice in the same year, it means coming up with unique stand-out ideas for events is paramount when planning what to do and the events coordinator will be at the cold front when helping the Creative team come up with these ideas and the best ways of executing them to create a real impact.
EVENT PLANNING
You’ll work with the Creative Director and the marketing team to plan out the events across the year and to ensure you have all the tools to make a real impact.
EVENT PROMOTION (INC MARKETING)
From radio through to social media and everything between, you’ll plan out what you think will make the most impact in terms of marketing to get the best return on ticket sales and create a real buzz in the lead up to each event. You’ll have support from other members of the team.
EVENT EXECUTION
Working with other members of the creative team you’ll help manage the events and take ownership of the running, reporting back on how well it went in a post-event de-brief after each and every event.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
PAST EXPERIENCE
Some event knowledge and best practice from the course you are on will be vital here, although a lot of the main experience will be gained on the job. Any events you may have out on in the past no matter how big or small will help and should be detailed in your application.
KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES
A strong knowledge of all the main social media platforms is vital as digital will most likely be your main marketing. Having ideas on the best ways to get interest and how you will use contacts and tools at your disposal to build on that interest is also important for this role. Also having the confidence to manage people and use PC’s is also important.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & ABILITIES
If you have skills using the Adobe Creative Suite which will enable you create eye-catching marketing campaigns including video and graphics will be advantageous. Whether that be posters or social vids to help with event awareness. If you are able to write copy and have good communication skills this is also helpful for the role.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
An ability to jump into this role and have the confidence to give your opinion and make decisions is important, as there will be times where you are working flexibly from home or unsupervised. It’s also important that you are always a brand ambassador for the company and are seen to be professional publicly.
